How It Works

The Michaelis-Menten model describes the enzymatic conversion rate of substrate into product via a reversible intermediate enzyme-substrate complex. At low substrate concentrations, reaction velocity increases linearly in first-order fashion; at high substrate concentrations, all enzyme active binding sites become saturated, causing the reaction velocity to asymptote toward the maximum velocity V_max.
