How It Works

Chromatographic separation exploits differences in partition coefficients between components of a chemical mixture as they migrate through an immobilized stationary phase matrix. A carrier mobile phase continuously sweeps solute bands downward; components with lower stationary phase affinity elute rapidly, resolving the injected mixture into discrete high-purity peaks described by the Van Deemter equation.
