How It Works

A counter-current heat exchanger transfers thermal energy between two fluid streams flowing in opposite directions along a shared conductive partition. Because the coldest entering utility fluid contacts the coolest leaving process fluid, a nearly uniform temperature difference driving force (ΔT) is sustained along the entire heat exchanger length, resulting in significantly higher thermal efficiency than co-current configurations.
