Slope Stability Slip Circle Analysis

Civil Engineering

How It Works

The limit equilibrium method of slices evaluates the stability of an earth embankment against rotational shear collapse along an assumed circular failure surface. The sliding soil mass is discretized into vertical slices, with equilibrium formulated by balancing the driving gravitational overturning moments against mobilized shear strength along the base of each slice. The factor of safety reflects the ratio of available shear resistance to mobilized driving shear.
