How It Works

Gauss's Law for Magnetism asserts that the net magnetic flux passing through any closed Gaussian surface is always identically zero. In electromagnetic theory, this condition is mathematically equivalent to stating that the magnetic field is solenoidal (divergence-free) and that isolated magnetic monopoles do not exist in classical physics. Magnetic field lines never terminate or originate on point charges; they invariably form continuous, unbroken closed loops.
