A power inverter converts direct current (DC) electrical power into alternating current (AC) at a desired frequency and voltage level using high-speed semiconductor switching devices. In a typical single-phase H-bridge topology, sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) modulates the conduction duty cycle by comparing a sinusoidal reference waveform against a high-frequency triangular carrier. When passed through a low-pass LC filter, the high-frequency switching components are eliminated, synthesizing a clean fundamental AC sine wave.
