Seebeck Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting

Energy Engineering

How It Works

The Seebeck thermoelectric effect converts spatial temperature gradients directly into electrical potential differences across junctions of dissimilar conductors or p-n semiconductor thermocouples. Charge carriers (electrons in n-type, holes in p-type) thermally diffuse from the hot junction toward the cold junction, inducing an open-circuit voltage proportional to the differential Seebeck coefficient.
