How It Works

Reverse osmosis purifies saline water by applying an external hydraulic pressure that exceeds the natural solution osmotic pressure across a semi-permeable membrane. The net driving pressure forces water molecules through dense polymeric matrix pores while hydrated sodium and chloride ions are rejected through steric and electrostatic mechanisms, yielding a purified permeate stream.
