How It Works

Special relativity asserts that the speed of light in vacuum is identical for all inertial observers regardless of relative motion. Consequently, an observer in relative motion with velocity v experiences elapsed time at a dilated rate relative to a stationary clock, scaling proportionately with the relativistic Lorentz factor γ.
