How It Works

Young's double-slit experiment demonstrates wave-particle duality and the quantum superposition principle. Coherent waves passing through two closely spaced parallel slits produce cylindrical wavefronts that overlap and interfere in space, producing an alternating series of constructive bright fringes and destructive dark bands on a detection screen.
