Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is a top-down deductive probabilistic risk assessment methodology that maps causal failure relationships. Starting from an undesirable catastrophic Top Event, Boolean logic gates (AND/OR gates) decompose systemic hazards into intersecting combinations of primary component failure rates.
