Polymer Cross-Linking

Materials Science

How It Works

Polymer cross-linking forms covalent chemical junction bonds between adjacent macromolecular chains, converting individual linear thermoplastic polymers into an interconnected three-dimensional network. This cross-linked network prevents permanent viscous chain slippage, significantly enhancing thermal stability, elastic modulus, and solvent resistance.

G = (ρ · R · T) / M_c , σ = G · (λ - 1 / λ^2)
