How It Works

Fiber-reinforced composites combine high-strength, high-stiffness reinforcement fibers with a ductile protective matrix to achieve superior specific strength and stiffness. Applied mechanical load is transferred from the matrix to the fibers via interfacial shear stress, and overall longitudinal elastic properties adhere to the Voigt isostrain rule of mixtures.
