How It Works

A single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is an allotrope of carbon consisting of a single cylindrical roll of sp²-hybridized hexagonal graphene. The direction and magnitude of the roll vector—defined by chiral indices (n, m)—determine whether the nanotube is metallic or semiconducting, supporting ballistic 1D electron conduction with minimal scattering.
