How It Works

Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) arises when an incident optical electromagnetic wave drives collective, resonant oscillation of conduction electrons against the restoring lattice in a metallic nanoparticle. At the Fröhlich resonance condition, the nanoparticle strongly concentrates light into intensely enhanced nanoscale electric near-fields.
