Holographic Interference

Optical Engineering

How It Works

Holography records the complete optical wavefront—including both intensity and phase distributions—by overlapping a coherent reference beam with an object beam scattered from a physical subject. The resulting sub-micron microscopic interference fringes stored in the emulsion reconstruct the true three-dimensional optical image when illuminated by the conjugate reference wave.
