How It Works

A linear polarizer selectively transmits electric field components aligned with its transmission axis while absorbing or reflecting orthogonal orientations. When pre-polarized light traverses a second polarizing filter (analyzer) rotated by an angle θ, the transmitted irradiance diminishes according to Malus's law.
