How It Works

In wireless telecommunications, the resonant half-wave dipole is the reference antenna against which directive antenna gains are measured (in dBd or dBi). High-frequency alternating radio currents generate oscillating charge accelerations along the metallic elements, launching spherical transverse electromagnetic (TEM) wavefronts into space with an omnidirectional toroidal radiation pattern and 2.15 dBi directivity gain.
